Types of Dental Implants

Southeastern Dental Center provides several dental implant options depending on how many teeth need replacement and what works best for each situation.

The team evaluates each case during consultation to determine which option best meets bone health, budget, and timeline requirements.

Single Tooth Implants

Replace one missing tooth with a titanium implant and custom crown that matches existing teeth. No damage to neighboring healthy teeth is required.

All-on-4 Implants

Replace an entire arch of teeth using just four implants. Most patients can get new teeth in a single day with this approach.

Full-Arch Dental Implants

Complete tooth restoration using four to six implants per arch. More implants mean extra stability for patients who want the strongest foundation.

Implant-Supported Bridge

Replace several missing teeth in a row using two or more implants to anchor a bridge. Keeps healthy teeth intact while restoring function.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Improve Your Overall Health

Your oral health is deeply connected to your overall well-being. By eliminating harmful bacterial infections and resolving periodontal disease, dental implants can significantly improve your health. Our comprehensive treatment approach ensures that existing dental issues are addressed, creating a foundation for lasting oral health.

Enjoy Life to the Fullest

With permanent dental implants, you can confidently:

  • Bite into apples
  • Enjoy corn on the cob
  • Savor juicy steaks
  • Crunch fresh salads and vegetables

No more avoiding foods or worrying about loose dentures.

Long-Lasting Results

Your dental implants can last a lifetime with proper care. Unlike bridges and dentures that need replacement every 5-10 years, implants offer:

  • Cost-effective, long-term solution
  • Elimination of recurring replacement costs
  • Lasting investment in your smile

Restore Your Confidence

Dental implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Benefits include:

  • No daily denture removal hassle
  • Complete confidence when speaking and laughing
  • Natural feel and function

I've been researching my teeth for almost six years. I wanted them done and I started looking for places around Columbus that did implants with good reviews. Southeastern Dental Center was the place. The reviews are awesome, the people are amazing, and they got me in quickly.

When you see teeth in a day, you think ‘well, how could that be possible?’ They explained exactly what the procedure was going to be, I came in for my appointment, and the next thing I remember, I woke up the next day with a mouth full of teeth. It was pretty awesome.

Cost of Dental Implant Treatment

The cost of dental implant treatment depends on what each patient needs. Single implants cost less than full-mouth restorations, and the complexity of the case affects pricing.

Several factors influence the final cost:

  • Number of implants needed
  • Type of restoration required
  • Additional procedures like bone grafting
  • Sedation preferences (for instance, IV Sedation)

Most dental insurance plans provide some coverage, and many now cover implants when they're medically necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, dental implants can be used for multiple missing teeth. An individual implant can be placed for each missing tooth, restoring function and aesthetics. In some cases, if several adjacent teeth are missing, a dental bridge or a full or partial denture that is anchored to multiple implants may be recommended instead. This provides reliable stabilization and comfort and preserves healthy teeth, as opposed to traditional dentures or bridges that require grinding down adjacent healthy teeth.

We often recommend dental implants over other options due to their durability, permanence, and resemblance to natural teeth. The implant replaces the tooth’s root, creating a stable base for an artificial tooth that is securely attached and doesn’t move. Unlike dentures, implants don’t require special cleansing procedures; unlike bridges, they don’t require alteration of neighboring teeth. Implants also prevent bone loss in the jaw, working to maintain your facial structure over the long term.

Dental implants can last a very long time with proper maintenance. How long exactly can depend on a variety of factors, including the patient’s oral hygiene practices, overall health status, whether or not they smoke (as smoking can negatively affect implant lifespan), and regular dental check-ups. If well taken care of, dental implants have been reported to last 25 years or more, potentially making them a long-lasting solution.

The recovery process after dental implant surgery varies from person to person, depending on factors such as the number of implants placed and the patient’s overall health. Generally, there will be some discomfort in the days immediately following surgery, which typically includes: swelling of the gums and face; bruising; pain at the implant site; minor bleeding. However, these should improve gradually over a week or so. The complete healing process, wherein the implant fuses with the bone—a process called osseointegration—usually takes several months.

Insurance coverage for dental implants depends on your insurance plan’s specifics. While some insurance companies have started providing coverage for dental implants, many policies still do not. That’s why we recommend reviewing your dental insurance plan and speaking with your insurance provider to understand what part is covered. Some of our patients’ plans cover a portion of the procedure or offer a discount, but much of the cost may still remain out-of-pocket. Some medical insurance also covers dental implants if our dentists deem them medically necessary.
