Southeastern Dental offers two different sedation methods to meet your needs. Nitrous oxide, sometimes called “laughing gas,” is a mild sedative that can help you relax during your appointment.

Nitrous oxide sedation helps patients feel more relaxed during their entire appointment. Nitrous oxide is an odorless, colorless gas inhaled through a mask during a dental procedure.
The gas works quickly to sedate patients and helps them to remain calm throughout the process. In most cases, laughing gas is only used for patients with short procedures, such as cleanings or dental fillings.
This sedation dentistry is often used for patients who need a long or complex process (such as impacted wisdom teeth extraction or dental implants).
It is administered through an IV, and it works by causing the patient to feel sleepy and relaxed. However, the sedation will last throughout the procedure, and the patient will have little or no memory of what happened.
After the treatment, the patient’s blood pressure and other vital signs will be monitored until the anesthesia wears off.
